The Marine and Freshwater Botany course is a 25 credit point, third-year, undergraduate course. The course is held over fourteen days in early December and includes 34 lectures, 45 hours of practical work and 21 hours of field study. The first 2 days of the course are spent at the Parkville campus of The University of Melbourne. Students also spend twelve days at the Victorian Marine Science Consortium in Queenscliff, where they take part in field studies of Victoria's rich marine flora at two open-coast beach sites, including the Harold Holt Marine Reserve at Point Lonsdale.
