Samanta completed her BSc at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, in Mexico City. She worked for part of her bachelor thesis in the Botanical Garden of the same University, part of the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory Team. There, she was involved in diverse projects of micropropagation of Mexican species of cacti, orchids and cycads in danger of extinction. She also studied biotechnology at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana – Iztapalapa, in the same city. She has just commenced her PhD in the Plant Physiology Laboratory and she will be working on the production of elite clonal plantations of blue mallee (Eucalyptus polybractea).
