606-302 Marine Botany and 606-361 Marine Phytoplankton of Australia

We are aware that many of you had problems when trying to enrol for 606-302 Marine Botany and 606-361 Marine Phytoplankton of Australia.

Happily, both the overloading and quota issues have now been addressed. Advisers in the Science Student Centre will be aware that our subjects can now be added to an eligible students’ enrolment without constituting an overload

If you wish to join us at Queenscliff this December, you should do one of the following:

This year 606-361 Marine Phytoplankton of Australia, will begin Monday,
Nov. 30th and run until Sunday, Dec. 6th in Parkville (all day, everyday).

Lectures are at 8.30 am and 1.30 pm in the Turner Lecture Theatre in the
School of Botany. The pracs are in the Skylab, Natural Philosophy Building,
and include a lecture component of approximately 20 mins plus a two hour
prac class.
There will not be a prac on Sunday the 6th, so that students can
make their way to Queenscliff for 606-302 Marine Botany.

The prac exam will be on Wednesday, December 16th at 9.15 am in the Skylab, and the final exam of 2 hours will be on Friday, December 18th at 9 am in the Skylab.

606-302 Marine Botany, will start on Monday, December 7th at 8.30 am in
Queenscliff, and run until Sunday, Dec 13th. The lecture schedule is
dependant on the tides and excursion times, View 606-302 draft timetable.

The prac exam for Marine Botany will be on Wednesday, December 16th at 2.15 pm
in the Skylab, and the final exam of 2 hours will be on Friday, December
18th at 2.15 pm in the Skylab.

It is highly recommended that you take both subjects, as in the new model, both subjects are required for a major in Marine Biology, and are normally taken at the end of second year.

If you have any questions about these subjects, please contact either
Dr Jan Carey (Coordinator 606-302)
