How do I find a supervisor?

You are encouraged to contact our academic staff directly and discuss your research interests with them.  Further information about our research may be found by on the Research page. The University of Melbourne also produces an annual research report that can be accessed on the Web (http://www.research.unimelb.edu.au/rpag/reports/research/). Use code 606 if you only want to look at research done in the School of Botany.  If you are having trouble identifying a suitable supervisor, contact the School's postgraduate coordinator ( edwardjn@unimelb.edu.au).

How do I apply?

If you are applying for either the MSc (Research) or the PhD courses you can obtain application forms by visiting the School of Graduate Studies web site (http://www.gradstudies.unimelb.edu.au/pgstudy). Information on the MEnvSci is available from the Faculty of Science Office (http://www.science.unimelb.edu.au/).

What scholarships are available?

A range of scholarships are available to support postgraduate study. The School of Graduate Studies (http://www.gradstudies.unimelb.edu.au/) administers most of the scholarships available to postgraduate students through the Scholarships Office.  Members of the School may also have scholarships that are associated with a particular research program. You should apply for scholarships through the School of Graduate Studies but should also check with your proposed supervisor(s) about any financial support they may be able to be arranged for you.

How long will a Masters of Science or a PhD at the School of Botany take?
