Isabel C. Cookson Laboratory
Research in Palaeobotany and Plant Morphology
The Cookson Laboratory is a centre for research in plant structure and evolution. At present our studies of fossil plants are predominantly concerned with the Permian and Mesozoic floras of Australia and Antarctica, but we are interested in all groups with a Gondwanan distribution. A number of our research projects involve living plants; in particular, floral development in the families Myrtaceae, Nothofagaceae and Winteraceae, and development and evolution of structural features in primitive land plants.
This collection of pages provides a brief summary of the staff and postgraduate students in the Cookson Laboratory, our research activities, and some of our recent publications. You can also see what our colleagues are doing in other research groups in the School of Botany. Information about the university can be accessed via TheUniversity of Melbourne home page.
